Tattoo Reflection

After completing my tattoo composition, I really enjoyed doing this assignment and I am happy with the way my work came out. I believe the best area of my composition, technically speaking, is the design of my tattoo. For my tattoo I created a bird and other smaller birds following. The quote I used surrounding it read, "Don't just fly, soar". When creating my tattoo I did not want the main bird to just be plain, so I chose to add one of my favorite patterns, paisley. I also believe another strong area of my finished piece is the positioning of my tattoo. One area of my work where I can improve is dodging the tattoo with my skin. I believe I did good with making the tattoo look more natural, but I think if I worked longer I could have done a better job.
I think the easiest part of this assignment was drawing my tattoo. From the beginning, I knew what I wanted to create and the quote I wanted to use as well. I liked being able to create something of my own and not take a tattoo that was already used. I think the most difficult thing about this assignment was making the tattoo look normal. It took me a little while to get the tattoo positioned, using warp, the way I wanted it. It also took me longer to blend with my skin. To make my original drawing I used blank paper, a pencil, and then outlined in black pen. For the Photoshop portion of my assignment I used warp tool, free transform, dodge and burn, effects, and blur tool. Each of these materials helped complete the overall look of my tattoo and I enjoyed learning how they work.
I believe that I successfully displayed the objectives of this assignment because of the way I executed my tattoo on me. I was able to position the tattoo using warp and free transform, making it look naturally shaped on my arm. I used dodge and burn and also the blur tool to make the tattoo look more natural on my skin tone. If I did this assignment again I do not think I would change much with the actual tattoo. The only thing I might do differently is taking more time on blending the tattoo to match my skin even more perfectly.
